RLC-3 Software Chip Changes The following table records which versions of each eprom work together. When a new version is released, only the eproms that change are assigned the new version number. That way it is obvious which chips have changed and which have not. The version is always designated by the highest version number of any of the eproms. For example, V1.53 uses V1.53 for eprom1 and eprom2, V1.41 for eprom4, and V1.45 for the radio cards. The V1.00 voice eprom could have been labeled anything from V1.00 to V.131. This was also true of card eproms. (1) V1.27 eproms were completely compatible with 1.12 eproms, but had a bigger event queue. (2) V1.30 main eproms also worked with V1.12 and V1.27 card eproms, but without the debouncing feature of the V1.30 card eproms. V1.30 card eproms would not work with earlier main eproms. (3) The V1.00 voice eprom still worked in versions that expected V1.32 because all of the old words were still in the same locations. However the 65 new words that were added in the V1.32 voice eprom obviously wouldn't work. (4) V1.40 never worked right - the voice word vector was wrong. (5) V1.45 card eproms are completely compatible with V1.34 card eproms, but have smaller queues. In V1.34 the stack would occasionally hammer the access mode and dial tone variables. Reducing the queue sizes to increase the space available for the stack solved this problem.
