RLC-3 Beta Version 1.48 V1.41 was the last release of importance for most RLC-3 users. It fixed several problems present in earlier versions and added many words to the vocabulary. V1.44 added command C139 to aid in setting up the RLC-Icom interface for IC-900 band modules. V1.46 finished the commands needed to control the DVR1, our big DVR. V1.48 changes the way the long distance dialing tables work, to make them more secure and less complicated. It also makes them slightly less flexible, but I don't believe that the lost flexiblilty will affect anyone. They should still handle every area-code/prefix combination I have seen. There are no known new problems in it, but it has not been throughly tested, so it is considered "beta". Most users will have no reason to upgrade past V1.41 for a while unless they have the RLC-ICM (IC-900 band module interface) or the DVR1. The next few versions, beginning with V1.48, will be released to allow those that want to test the new features that are being developed. When these features are complete and well tested, there will be a general software release available to all RLC-3 owners. There will also be a new manual available at that time. In the meantime, the software and manual updates will be available only from our ftp site. If you wish to download these updates and burn your own proms, you are welcome to. We will be glad to hear of any bugs you might find, and we are open to any suggestions for future software versions or manual changes. It will be easiest for us if you notify us of bugs/suggestions in writing (by mail, fax or email). You should find the following files in our ftp account (ftp.netins.net) in the directory showcase/linkcomm/rlc3/v148beta. README This file. EPROMS.ZIP The files needed to burn software version 1.48. The card rom data (included) is identical to V1.45. The voice eprom data (included) is identical to V1.41. PATCH148.PDF The modified patch commands from the RLC-3 manual in PDF. See the readme file in the showcase/linkcomm directory for more information about PDF. A complete manual for V1.48 is not available. EPROMS.ZIP should contain the following files: RLC3CARD.BIN should be loaded with offset of 0 as a binary file and burned into a 27C512 EPROM for each of the cards. It is the same as version 1.45. Checksum = B249. PROM1.BIN and PROM2.BIN should be loaded as binary files with no offset and burned into 27C010 or 27C001 eproms for the motherboard. Checksums are 3642 and 1E01. Socket #3 should be empty. RLC3_VCE.141 should be loaded as a binary file with no offset and burned into a 27C010 or 27C001 eprom. It is only about 77K, so don't be concerned that the file size is different than PROM1 and PROM2. It goes in socket 4 on the motherboard. It is the same as V1.41. Checksum = 5DAC.
