RLC-Club, Club Deluxe II and RLC-3 Version 2.15 BETA This file was updated 10-28-2003. V2.15 should being released as BETA software as of 10-28-2003, although we hope that is found to be stable and can become a general release soon. Please report any problems you find. Thanks. Firmware version 2.15 is available for four different hardware platforms: - RLC-Club controller with or without the Deluxe option. - RLC-Club controller with Deluxe II option (this version will not run on an RLC-Club controller without the Deluxe II option) - RLC-3 with Rev A or B motherboard. These have sockets for four 27C010 or 27C001 EPROMs. EPROMs #1 and #2 change with each firmware version. EPROM #3 is not needed and EPROM #4 contains the voice synthesizer data, which hasn't changed since V1.41. - RLC-3 with Rev C motherboard. This uses a single 27C040 or 27C4001 EPROM. This file describes only the changes since V2.13. For information about all changes made after a previous firmware version, look at all of the readme files for the following versions or check the manuals. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ V2.14 was used only for limited testing. It fixed two bugs in command 006 that were present in V2.13. - On the Club Deluxe II and RLC-3 versions, command 006 did not properly set priorities for receivers 4 and up. - On the RLC-Club and RLC-Club Deluxe II versions, command 006 would not let you set the priority for the autopatch receiver or transmitter. That limitation has been removed. V2.15 contains the following changes compared with V2.14 (just fixes - no new features): - Fixed the logic for receiver priorities (command 006) so receivers active recently (within the duration of the receiver priority mute timer) will only be able to mute lower priority receivers on transmitters they are both connected to. - Cleaned up and optimized the serial printing routines. The "simulator" programs that run on a PC no longer print unnecessary "OK" messages. - Fixed a problem that caused the PTT event triggers (see command 157) on the RLC-3 to be called every 10 seconds even when the PTT state had not changed. - Fixed a problem that caused the LED display on the Club Deluxe II to sometimes show that a PTT had dropped when it actually had not. The actual PTT signals were not affected. - Fixed a problem with command 082 that prevented setting yearly scheduler events. The V2.13 manuals should apply to V2.15 without changes. Please let us know if you find any errors so they can be corrected when the V2.15 manuals are generated (which will probably happen when V2.15 moves from beta testing to general release). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Known problems and workarounds: - RLC-3 and RLC-Club workaround: when using command 190 to recall the user level required to execute a large range of commands, the controller may reset rather than providing the command response. To avoid this, turn off serial queuing with "060 0110" first: 060 0110 ; turn serial queueing off 190 000 500 ; recall level for commands 0-500 060 0111 ; turn serial queueing back on - The synthesized voice words "goodbye", "tick/toc", "approach", "list" and "Mount Hamilton" may not work correctly. They should be corrected in a future version. - A "cover tone" (constant beeping) is sometimes sent when it shouldn't be, usually when the autopatch connects or disconnects. (This may be fixed in V2.15 - please let me know if it is not). - On the RLC-3, the keyup delay timers do not mute receivers in the same way as the other controllers. If a PTT is already active, the audio from a receiver that is subject to a keyup delay will transmitted even before the delay timer expires. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ You can obtain this update in several ways: - If you purchased your controller within the past year, we will send you the update chips for free; just call and ask (applies once versions are generally available, not during beta testing). - You can download files from our web site (for free) and burn your own EPROMs (you need an EPROM programmer to do it) and print your own manuals. Go to http://www.link-comm.com/ or http://www.link-comm.com/ftp/ - You can order updated EPROMs and a new printed manual from us for $75. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you decide to burn EPROMs for yourself, please note the filenames and EPROM types for your controller model below.
